All our prices are based on tuition with a fully qualified instructor offering a structured and thorough approach to everything you need to know about riding a motorcycle on today’s busy roads. With safety a prime concern whichever package you choose you are guaranteed a professionally trained instructor, well maintained easy to use motorcycles or scooters, fuel, fully comprehensive insurance and glove hire built into the price. CBT Taster Session – 2hrs

Not sure if you’ll like motorcycling? A bit worried about joining a CBT session with no experience at all? This short course gives you the chance to get ahead of the game. After a brief machine familiarisation session you will spend the majority of the time riding in our secure off road training area learning the basics. Once you have got to grips with the machines controls you’ll be riding and practicing a series of exercises designed to build your confidence. Always lots of fun and a great introduction to biking.

Bike hire, helmet and gloves all supplied.

CBT Taster Session – 2hrs – £60.00

Compulsory Basic Training (CBT) – Full day

Want to learn how to ride? Don’t know where to start? Read on to discover how Ride On Motorcycle Training can take you from complete novice to capable rider. CBT was introduced by the government in December 1990 to improve motorcyclists knowledge of road safety and reduce accidents. CBT must be completed by all new riders* and it consists of the following elements;

  • Element A – Introduction
  • Element B – Practical On Site Training
  • Element C – Practical On Site Riding
  • Element D – Pre Road Ride Safety Briefing
  • Element E – Practical On Road Riding

At Ride On Motorcycle Training your day will start at about 0930hrs and will cover all the essential guidelines set out by the Driving Standards Agency (DSA) in a relaxed atmosphere. After an initial briefing you will be introduced to the machine that you will be learning on and shown how to maintain and operate it. This will be followed by a series of exercises designed to build your confidence and give you time to practice. Provided both you and the instructor are sure you are ready and have reached a satisfactory standard you will return to the classroom for a Pre Road Ride Safety Briefing. This briefing will cover everything you need to know before venturing onto the road for the first time. Following this your instructor and a maximum of 2 students will head out into the local area for a minimum of 2 hours riding in a variety of different conditions while in constant radio contact with each other. Provided you meet the standards set out by the DSA you will be awarded your CBT pass certificate (DL196). Well done, you’re ready for the road!

Compulsory Basic Training (full day)

DAS and STT courses (including module 1 & 2 test fees)

If you are over 21 and want to ride a motorcycle bigger than125cc you can take your DAS test on a 500cc motorcycle, giving you unrestricted access to ride all sizes of motorcycles. If you are under 21 you can take the STT on a smaller motorcycle to allow you restricted access to ride motorcycles up to 33bhp., after 2 years this restriction is lifted allowing you to ride any motorcycle.

How much training you need to reach the minimum standard for your DAS assessment or Standard Test will depend on your riding experience. Here are our prices and some guidelines:

You would need:

  • 2 days – If you are riding most days and are confident on the road – £330.00
  • 3 days – If it’s been some time since you rode or could do with gaining some experience – £465.00
  • 4 days – If you are a frequent road user but have no riding experience – £560.00
  • 5 days – If you are new to riding a motorcycle and have little experience on the road – £690.00

All DAS and STT courses include module 1 & 2 test preparation as well as module 1 & 2 test fees. Additional full and half day training also available.

Module 2 Test Fee – £75.00

Travel to each test – £70.00

Not ridden a bike for 5 years? 10 years? 15 years or more? Back to Bikes is the perfect course for you. Whether you just want some practice at our off road facility or you want to hone your road riding skills on a modern machine we will take into account the type of motorcycle you already have or are interested in before we begin tailoring the course to suit you.

What ever your individual needs we will guide you through many of the essentials such as machine control, braking and cornering techniques and the differences in power and weight of modern motorcycles.
